Sports Betting and ugly parlays
One thing that people often do when sports betting has to do with parlays. They try to make a big splash right away, running up their bankroll to an acceptable number. They think that parlays are truly the way to get ahead. Is this really the case, though? Are parlays a strong sports betting play? Generally speaking, parlays are value killers. Though they do give you a chance at a bigger payout, they are not a positive play from an expected value standpoint. The sportsbooks love for you to make parlay bets, because they know that parlays are things that will ultimately make them a lot of money.
If you are going to use parlays with your sports betting, you must make sure that each of your plays has positive expected value. When this is the case, you stand to win more often with your parlays. Likewise, you need to make sure that you are keeping the number of total plays within your parlay to a minimum. People with smaller bankrolls should be especially conscious of this. If you don’t have a lot of money in hand, then using a chunk of your bankroll on parlays is a bad idea. Remember this if you want to find success.
