Why the Philadelphia Eagles will win the Superbowl
Last year started with a bang for the Eagles. People thought that they had put together a super team of studs on both sides of the ball. They were crowned champions of the NFC East before the season ever started. Unfortunately for the Eagles, things did not materialize in the way they would have wanted. Instead of being able to walk to the Superbowl, they failed to make the playoffs at all. Will this year be different? Can they calm their past demons and take home the championship that people have been talking about for more than a calendar year? That is the big question. The Eagles will win the Superbowl this season.
Offensive balance powers the Eagle machine
Why will they finally take down the crown? The answer ultimately lies in their good balance. The Eagles have built a team that can do it all. They have a good quarterback in Michael Vick. They have a strong offensive line that can protect the QB. They also have a strong running game with Shady McCoy leading the way. This is something that many teams just cannot match. The Eagles will be able to put points on the board in a fashion that makes other teams very jealous. This is one of the primary reasons why they will take home the crown.
The defense will mesh
Last season, the Eagles put together a strong collection of solid individual defensive performers. The problem, of course, was that those players never learned to play together. The Eagles had good pass rushers and solid defensive backs. Though they did not have a lot of strength at linebacker, it looked like the Eagles had enough to get the job done. The problem was largely one of chemistry. As that defense plays more and more together, they will begin to mesh. This will allow them to get the most out of the individual talent that they have assembled in the city of brotherly love.
Andy Reid is a good coach
We have seen a trend in the last decade in the NFL. Coaches matter in the league. Good coaches win more often than bad coaches. Andy Reid is, by all reports and measures, a good coach. He understands offense and playcalling. He is able to get a lot out of his players. He understands how to put together a defensive staff. Andy Reid will be focused on the job at hand in 2012. This will help the Eagles win the Superbowl that people have been calling for over the years. It is not the only reason they’ll win, but it is a very big part of the Eagle equation.
